The very first time my husband and I went to Gatlinburg it was pouring rain for 2 days. We had no reservations and there was a motorcycle toys.for tots run. I thought we would never find a room. Loved every minute.

We have a livermush festival also in Shelby NC in Oct. I think the trees were Crape Myrtle. Oh Amanda's sweet smile reaction made me tear up with joy. So sweet! ❤

Was so happy to see you eat at Countryside Barbeque. When we camped in Marion about two years ago, we ate there, also. I thought that their barbequed chicken was the BEST that I ever ate. We love your videos. They are classy and down to earth at the same time. Of course, we enjoy Winston tremendously.

You were in my hometown of Marion, NC. It's Livermush. :) My grandmother, who lived to be 107, used to make it. Hunter's livermush is what is made and sold in Marion. Best way to eat it is to slice it fairly thin and fry it in a pan and eat it in a sandwich made with toasted bread for eaten with eggs and toast. I grew up eating it. My family still live in Nebo which is near Marion in McDowell County. There used to be a Belk Broom department store, Roses's dime store, a real hardware store, some furniture stores, along with various clothing stores on main street. Plus, the First National Bank of Marion was in the building with the big dome. Countryside Barbecue Restaurant is run by a guy I graduated with from McDowell High School.

Those trees by train station called crape myrtle. They bloom out in several colors. White, pink , red, purple.

I lived in Marion,NC back in the 70's it has changed back when I lived there there was belk's downtown and I delivered news papers for 10 cents I became a junior deputy then we moved back to Georgia I had fun in Marion,NC as a young kid thank you for sharing and bringing back memories I appreciate you both

One tends to forget how pretty the area is until your away for sometime. Born in Maryville but raised in the Valley until I was 14, then back to Maryville. We had a home about 1 mile from the Blount county line on 30 acres. I doubt that I could hardly afford 1 of those acres now. I've lived in 9 other states due to work, but only one other was as beautiful but in a different way. That was when I lived on the York River in Virginia with Williamsburg just up the parkway. Sure plan to ride the Hawk and horse's when I get back to the area. Thanks, I enjoy your videos.
